Last year I created 'the element series'
Drawings that were representing the natural element by a mythical creature.
However I have been wanting to work with nature and her elements in a more deep and meaningful way. As I am starting to learn more and more about the usage of natural pigments and paints, I had the realization that these series would be cooler, if they were made with natural pigments of the element that they are representing. So the drawings won't just visualize the element, but also embody it. 🌬

I had my first try in this process with the element 'air'. Maybe this one is immediately the hardest one, because in what way can you catch air? I realised that this is almost impossible to do, so I tried to work with natural pigments that at least have been touched by the air. Like fall leaves that have been swinged around, to finally let all the way go from the tree, by the movement of the wind and the air.
All the pigments used in this little painting are from the top of trees, the highest up to the sky, the closest to the air.
