Workshop: From Plant to Paint - Working with natural pigments
Workshop From Plant to Paint – working with natural pigments
In this in-depth workshop, spread over two afternoons, we’ll dive into the world of natural pigments together. You’ll learn how to gather pigments from nature close to home in a respectful and mindful way, and how to transform them into paint using different recipes.
During the first afternoon, we meet at Hoeveniks in Achtmaal (Achtmaalsweg 151A). From there, we’ll take a walk through the beautiful natural area of the Oude Buisse Heide, searching for seasonal natural elements—plants, flowers, stones, and earth—that can be used as pigments.
On the second afternoon, we gather at STEK Breda, in my studio (Veilingkade 9A). Here, we’ll work hands-on with the materials you collected, following different paint recipes and transforming natural elements into paint.
Between the two afternoons, you’ll receive an e-book to guide you through the process. This will help you carry out certain steps at home and will remain a reference afterward, so you’ll have the tools to continue working with natural pigments on your own.
What you can expect:
• Learning how to recognize different natural pigments and how to collect them in a respectful, attentive way
• Gaining insight into the seasonality of pigments and what can be found at different times of the year
• Exploring different paint recipes for making watercolor, ink, and wall paint
• Taking home several jars of your own handmade paint
• Discovering the natural area of the Oude Buisse Heide—an important source of inspiration for Vincent van Gogh in his early years
• Working with your own paints within the creative hub STEK in Breda
• Two relaxed, inspiring afternoons
• No prior experience is needed—everyone is welcome
You’re warmly invited on:

Sacred little tapestry workshop
Workshop Little Tapestry Making
In this workshop, we’ll be making a small piece of tapestry using recycled fabrics. At the heart of it lies a simple joy: playing with textiles, structures, and colors, and letting our inner child run free while doing this.
Many of us carry memories tied to fabric—a first stuffed animal, a baby blanket, or a beloved piece of clothing. Working with textiles is a multisensory experience, where the past and future gently meet: the hands of those who came before us, and your own hands, shaping something new and meaningful.
Textiles are part of our everyday lives, but they also play a special role in rituals, transitions, and celebrations across cultures. They help mark the big shifts—birth, love, grief, growth. In this workshop, you’re invited to reflect on where you are now, and to create a tapestry that speaks to this moment in your life. A small act of honoring what was (symbolized by the second-hand fabrics), and setting intention for what’s to come.
What you’ll learn and experience in this workshop:
- The basics of working with textiles and tapestry
- We begin with a guided meditation to gently check in with yourself and arrive in the moment
- How to work intuitively, while also learning about different forms of symbolism
- A cozy and relaxing afternoon
- No prior experience is needed—this workshop is open to everyone
You’re warmly invited to:
📅 February 28th

Feel free to bring any second-hand clothes or fabrics that carry meaning for you—you’ll have the chance to work with materials that truly tell your story.
My Vision
In my workshops, I encourage a playful, intuitive relationship with materials. I am not a big fan of harsh techniques or rigid rules. Instead, I invite you to explore, to experiment, and to work with curiosity and joy. Of course, you will learn skills and develop your craft over time, but for me, that is never the main goal. It is a beautiful by-product.
The true goal is to enter a state of flow: a space of awe, presence, and deep engagement with the creative process. Especially in a time when so many of us have been taught to be serious, to be “smart,” and to live from our heads rather than our feelings. We are often told that only certain people are allowed to make art, that you must first be an “artist.” I deeply believe that everyone is creative and can express themselves in their own unique way.
To return to this childlike sense of wonder and openness, to trust what the process holds, is deeply nourishing. It is something I cherish, and something I would love to share with you.
For me, creativity and spirituality are deeply intertwined. Spirituality means choosing to live in conscious connection: with oneself, with others, and with the living world. Art has always been a way for me to return to myself, and through that, to reconnect with people, plants, and animals.
That is why my workshops are not only about making. They are also about pausing. About checking in. About feeling before acting. We begin from a grounded, attentive place, for example through guided meditation or a silent walk, and from there, we move into joyful exploration.
It would be a joy to have you be part of this experience. You are warmly invited to join one of my cozy workshop afternoons. And if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Hopefully, see you soon! <3
